Delhi Crime Branch busted a nexus of three, involved in smart phones fraud who were allegedly harassing a rape victim

The Delhi Crime Branch busted a nexus and held three who ran a scam if iver Rs. 200 crores in the name of "Ringing Bells" company who were allegedly threatening a rape victim and attempted to murder witness in the case.
Jt CP (Crime) Alok Kumar stated that the Supreme Court of India had transferred the case to Crime Branch to trace the unknown caller, who had been threatening a rape case victim. The police had also declared reward of Rs. 50,000 on tracing the caller and solving the case.
JCP Kumar added that the mastermind is a notorious fraudster, founder of Ringing Bells Company, which claimed to launch Cheapest Smart Phone Freedom-251 under Digital India Scheme of Govt. of India in 2016. The scam was worth more than Rs. 200 crores. He is involved in more than 48 criminal cases of cheating in name of smart phone and Dubai dry fruits fraud.
The accused have been identified as Vinit alias Shanky from Gurugram, Mohit Goel from Noida and Sumit Yadav also from Gurugram.
Elaborating on the case, the crime branch said that in August-2020, a rape case was registered at Dwarka South against one Vikas Mittal from Ghaziabad. Thereafter, the victim started receiving threatening calls from an unknown caller, who wanted her to sort out the matter with the accused and to meet him at IGI Airport. The police had arrested accused Vikas Mittal from T-3, IGI Airport. As the police party was moving out of IGIA, the victim received another threatening call in police presence. The caller said that he would kill her and her entire family.
The officials added that the victim received multiple threatening calls on different occasions. Later, an unknown person with the same voice physically caught her near Civil Line Metro Station and threatened her. A case for threatening witness, u/s 195-A/506 IPC was registered at Civil Lines on her complaint. One Sumit Yadav was a witness to this civil lines incident.
In October, 2020, the same unknown caller, threatened Sumit Yadav, the witness of civil lines case in Jind, Haryana and fired several rounds at him. A case for attempt to murder u/s 307/120-B IPC & 25/27 Arms Act is registered at Jind. The unknown caller was untraceable as the SIM card procured on fake documents was used for threatening purpose only and no other call was made by the phone. In December 2020, the SC transferred investigation to crime branch
Following months of data analysis, diligent technical work and field operations, crime branch developed vital clues and identified the unknown caller as Vinit Kumar from Gurugram.
The accused had been frequently changing his hideouts in different colonies and Sector Apartments in Gurugram, hence it was difficult to pin point his location. The team laid a trap and Vinit Kumar was apprehended from a rented apartment in Gurugram. He admitted to his involvement in the crime and revealed that Mohit Goel and Sumit Yadav were the main conspirators.
JT CP Alok Kumar further added that it was revealed that Mohit Goel is involved in dozens of cheating cases in Noida and hiding himself in somewhere in Ghaziabad or Noida and the accused Sumit Yadav is wanted by Noida Police in dozens of cheating case and hid in Chandigarh.
Mohit Goel was traced and apprehended from his apartment in Noida..He also admitted to his involvement in the crime and revealed about Sumit Yadav following which he was traced and apprehended outside the Chandigarh High Court.
According to the crime branch, in 2020, the accused Vinit joined job of PSO with Mohit Goel on recommendation of Sumit Yadav. Mohit Goel had enmity with Vikas Mittal, his brother in law, because of a business dispute. After registration of rape case against Vikas Mittal, Mohit Goel hatched a conspiracy to ensure that Vikas Mittal stayed in jail. For this purpose, he arranged a new handset and a SIM card procured on fake documents through his friend Sumit Yadav.
Mohit Goel found out that Vikas Mittal was in Ujjain with his family. He sent Vinit to Ujjain by air, who made a threatening call to the rape victim from Ujjain, in Vikas Mittal’s name. Vinit returned to Delhi in the same flight with Vikas Mittal and his family. As soon as Vikas Mittal landed, he was arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of threatening the rape victim. Even while Vikas Mittal was in custody at the airport, Vinit switched on his phone and threatened the rape victim again.
The officials added that Vinit was sent by Mohit Goel to Civil Lines Metro Station, Delhi. He was told to physically threaten the rape victim at the metro station. Vinit spoke to the rape victim at the metro Station. She filed another complaint of intimidation and Sumit Yadav became a witness in this case. A case was registered on her complaint in civil lines police station.
Mohit Goel and Sumit Yadav planned to trap Vikas Mittal further into the mater. Vinit later called up Sumit Yadav from Gurugram and threatened him. Sumit Yadav was present in Jind at that time. He fired four rounds in the air with a pistol and got registered a case of Attempt to Murder and Arms Act against Vikas Mittal and unknown persons for threatening him, as he was a witness to the Civil Lines intimidation case.
Vinit Kumar hails from Rohtak and had come to Gurugram in 2019 in search of a job. He met Sumit Yadav who was running a Security Company that provided Bouncers and PSOs. Sumit Yadav introduced him to Mohit Goel, who hired him as PSO for monthly salary of Rs. 40,000/-. He is previously involved in two criminal cases in Gurugram and one case at PS Laxmi Nagar of Kidnapping and Extortion.
Mohit Goel hails from Shamli (UP) and is a Post Graduate. In 2016, he had started Ringing Bells Pvt. Ltd. Company and launched Smart Phone at much Cheaper Rates under Digital India Program of GOI in name of Freedom-251 and established factory in Hardwar. During this period, he was booked in a case of misusing National Flag logo on launched phone. Later on, several cases registered against him by Distributers/ Dealers across India as he could not provide deliveries despite payments. The Freedom-251 scam was worth more than Rs. 200 crores.
After coming of jail, he formed another company named Dubai Dry Fruits and started dry fruit business. Several cases have been registered against him for cheating and not delivering goods. Discovery Plus Channel had also made a documentary on him and had shown him as Money Mafia.
During this period, he started suspecting that his brother in law Vikas Mittal was behind the cases registered against him. He decided to take revenge. He recruited Sumit Yadav and Vinit Kumar to trap Vikas Mittal.
Sumit Yadav is a Diploma holder in Hospitality and Management from London and presently was running a Bouncer/Man Power providing company from Gurugram. He got false case of Atempt To Murder, Life Threat and Arms Act registered against Vikas Mittal in Jind.
He was wanted in 12 criminal cases of Noida in Dry Fruit Fraud. NBWs had been issued against him in 8 cases and cash reward of Rs. 25,000/- had been declared for his arrest by UP Police. One automatic pistol was recovered at his instance in Delhi.
