Delhi Crime Branch Narcotics Cell held a Bareilly based narcotics drug lord Tamoor Khan of Bareilly

New Delhi, September 20
In what is touted to be a huge catch, the Delhi Crime Branch's narcotics cell held a Bareilly based drug mafia Tamoor Khan wanted in nine cases of drug trafficking.
Tamoor Khan was also declared a proclaimed offender by the court and was carrying a reward of Rs. one lakh declared by Delhi Police and Rs. 50,000 declared by UP Police.
DCP (Narcotics Cell) Chinmoy Biswal stated that Tamoor Khan's arrest is a big blow to the Delhi-Bareilly syndicate of illegal drug trafficking. He is one of the most wanted traffickers over several years and spread over several areas in Delhi and U.P.
The officials said that Tamoor had built the image of local Robinhood in the area surrounding his village which is the main reason that locals used to given him prior information about police which helped him in evading every time police raided his house.
The Narcotics cell mapped the drug prone areas in Delhi and ‘source’ states and districts. It was noticed that some of districts in U.P like Bareilly, Badayun and Rampur are the hub of drug traffickers from where maximum trafficking of Heroin was being done to local suppliers in Delhi.
The narcotics cell registers 17 cases of NDPS Act registered by Narcotics Cell, connection with suppliers of Bareilly, Badayun, Pillibhit, Bulandshahar and Ghaziabad of UP. Eight Bareilly based drug suppliers were arrested.
DCP Biswal added that the interstate coordination was established with IG, Bareilly Range and SSP, Bareilly and Badayun, U.P to mount surveillance of drug suspects and network operating from Bareilly and Badayun, U.P.
The officials received informationthat the Tamoor was going Seelampur from Bareilly or Lakhimpur Khiri, U.P in search of shelter as after the arrest of another notorious Bareilly, U.P based drug supplier Shahid Khan alias Chote Khan by U.P Police and then by Delhi Police also, he got suspicious that Chote Pradhan might have given information about his hideouts to police.
The police team swung into action and laid a trap and intercepted him while he was avoiding main road at Seelampur infront of Metro station and was going through the side lane. He tried to escape however, he was overpowered by the police team.
The police have booked him under the sections 21/29 NDPS Act. In this case, one Vinod from Vijay Vihar in, Delhi had been arrested by the team of narcotics cell in 2018 and 700 grams of Heroin was seized from his possession. He had disclosed that he used to procure Heroin from Tamoor.
Tamoor Khan has been residing at his native village Behra of Bareilly. After completing B.A from Bareilly College, Bareilly, he took admission in MBA 1st semester in Future College, Bareilly, U.P but did not continue studies.
While taking admission in MBA course, he had the dream to work in a multinational company. The financial condition of his family was not good hence, he was finding difficulty in continuing his studies. A notorious local drug supplier of his village lured him into drug trafficking in the year 2007 for earning quick money, officials said.
Tamoor was arrested for the first time in the year 2008 with smack 670 grams. He remained in jail for seven months and was later acquitted. After coming out from jail, he again joined the local drug supplier and started trafficking drugs from Bareilly to Delhi. He worked with him as contraband carrier for several years. In order to evade arrest, he stopped using mobile phone and used to hide in sugarcane fields whenever police raided his house.
The narcotics cl officials further added Tamoor gradually learnt the art of making Heroin from crude which is extracted from Afeem. The locals used to manufacture Heroin in Bareilly after processing opium crude as earlier cultivation of Afeem was allowed in different villages in Bareilly and Badayun, U.P.
He developed his own group of drug suppliers/traffickers in Bareilly and started supplying drugs to drugs suppliers in Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan. He told police that the consignment of Opium crude is being received by the drug traffickers of Bareilly from Jharkhand, West Bengal and Manipur.
Tamoor has local support as he used to donate money to needy people generously to gain local support. He had such a strong support in 10-15 surrounding villages that if any well built person or movement of any vehicle of HR or DL number was noticed in the area surrounding his village, he used to get immediate information about suspected Delhi Police team. He earned tremendous support of locals which is the main reason that he could not be caught by the police for such a long period of time.
Interestingly, the children in his village used to play ‘Bhola Bhaag gaya” by making two teams, one of Narcotics Cell and the other of Special Cell as both the teams regularly mounted pressure but every time he escaped before the police team reached his hideout in Bareilly.
