New Delhi, October 28
A father son duo allegedly assaulted a police inspector and a constable after the son was stopped for riding a bike with an illegally modified silencer.
The incident took place on night of October 26. Inspector Narpal Singh was on patrolling duty with other officers on Batla road when he noticed a bullet motorcycle heading towards Zakir Nagar market. The bike was making a loud noise and was stopped by the SHO.
DCP (South East) Ravi Kumar said, “On inspection, it was found that the silencer was illegally modified, in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. The SHO then ordered the bike to be seized as per law. However, the bike rider, Asif, 24, refused to comply and called his father, Riyassudin, who came to the spot".
DCP added, “The father said the police should ‘settle the matter’ then and there and let his son go, or else there would be consequences. When the SHO refused, Riyasuddin grabbed him by the caller and Asif punched him near the eye”.
The father-son duo were arrested for attacking an officer on duty, and a case was registered against them at the Jamia Nagar police station.
The SHO was taken to the Holi Family Hospital for treatment.
