Delhi Police arrested wanted gangster Kala Rana from Thailand

New Delhi, March 2

The Delhi Police arrested wanted gangster Virender Partap alias Kala Rana from Thailand and brought him to Delhi. 

A red corner notice was issued against him by the Interpole. Kala Rana is a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Jathedi syndicate who wanted in more than 30 cases in the country.

Rana was running the syndicate of Bishnoi and Jathedi from Thailand after he fled out of India on a fake passport in 2019.  

Kala Rana was on the radar of police forces of several states as well as the central agencies. The Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police had received information that Rana was hiding in Thailand. 

The counter intelligence team of Delhi Police ascertained his movements and received information about his location in Thailand. The police teams apprehended him and brought him to Delhi. 

Rana is involved in at least 30 cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and criminal intimidation across Haryana, and had also planned the escape of Kuldeep alias Fajja from police custody at GTB Hospital last year.

The police stated that Rana was carrying a reward of Rs 1,00,000 for his arrest in connection with a case registered in Haryana. 

According to the police, he became close friends with Sampat Nehra, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi during his jail term. In 2017, he along with Nehra and others had opened fire on a person named Rajender alias Raja, the brother of ex-MLA Dilbag Singh, and Rana was declared a proclaimed offender in this case by a court in 2019.

This is the first big arrest of wanted gangster this year. The Haryana Police would take Rana in their custody after the interrogation of the Delhi Police.
