Delhi Police book doctor for alleged triple talaq and assaulting wife

The Delhi police has booked a city based doctor for allegedly giving divorce to his wife under triple talaq. He has been also accused of assaulting the woman.
The police said the incident took place on August 20 in Delhi’s Jamia with the woman alleging that her husband Mohd Riyazuddin, turned up at her residence and also assaulted her.
The police said he has separated from his wife nine years ago. On August 20, he turned up at her residence, assaulted her and allegedly announced talak thrice stating that he has "divorced" her.
The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act 2019 outlaws triple talaq.
The police have booked the man under sections of criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt and assaulting a woman.
