Delhi Police EOW arrests one for cheating citizens on residential flat scheme

Delhi Police EOW arrests one for cheating citizens on various residential flat scheme in the name of a registered society and duped 200 citizens in Delhi.

The accused was identified as Praveen Kumar Singh who was operating a society in the name of Jai Maa Laxmi Co-Operative Thrift & Credit Society Ltd. 

The EOW said that Praveen Kumar Singh, along with his female accomplice, was operating a society in the name of Jai Maa Laxmi Co-Operative Thrift & Credit Society Ltd. and running  a shop in the name of Arpit Cloth Store at B – 84, Ram Gali No. 1, Mandawali in Fajalpur of Delhi. The duo had induced and cheated approx. 200 innocent people in the area of Mandawli on the pretext of investing in different schemes to earn high profit. 

The EOW had registered a case under section 406/420/120B IPC was registered at PS EOW, New Delhi and investigation was taken up. 

The EOW during their investigation found out that the said society was not registered with RBI and hence, they were not authorized to collect the money from public directly in any scheme. 

As both the accused Praveen Kumar Singh and his female accomplice were absconding since the registration of the case, efforts were made to trace both the accused persons. Both accused persons were declared Proclaimed Persons (absconders) vide order dated 06.02.2020 of Ld. CMM, East District, Karkardooma Court, Delhi. Finally, Praveen Kumar Singh, proclaimed person (absconder) was arrested from Kaushambhi Metro Station area, Ghaziabad, UP.
According to the EOW, Praveen Kumar Singh and his female accomplice were operating a fake society in the name of Jai Maa Laxmi Co-Operative Thrift & Credit Society Ltd. and Arpit Cloth Store to induce innocent people in the local area of Mandawali Delhi who used to visit their shop to invest in various schemes like Interest Earning scheme, Loan Scheme, Flat booking Scheme and Lucky draw scheme. They cheated around 200 people and the amount involved is more than several lakhs.  

The EOW team held the accused from Kaushambhi Metro Station in Ghaziabad and the proclaimed person (absconder) was identified and nabbed. He was declared proclaimed person (absconder) by the court in this case.
