Delhi Police IGI police imparts soft skill training to police personnel

The success of the "Always Caring" soft skill training programme highlights the positive outcomes that can be achieved through collaboration and shared objectives

New Delhi, September 21

In line with its ongoing commitment to enhancing the skills of its personnel and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all travelers, the IGI Airport Police, in partnership with IndiGo Airlines, successfully conducted a soft skills training program titled "Always Caring" on September 20, 2024.

The training programme aimed to enhance the interpersonal skills and clientele service capabilities of the participating officers, further improving their ability to engage with the diverse traveler base at the airport.

Over the training session, approximately 70 police personnel received comprehensive training covering various aspects of effective communication, conflict resolution, empathy, and customer service best practices.

The officials said that airports serve as gateways to our cities and countries, bustling hubs where people from diverse backgrounds converge, each with their own needs, concerns, and expectations. In such a dynamic environment, the role of police personnel goes beyond mere law enforcement; it encompasses providing assistance, ensuring safety, and fostering positive interactions with the public.

Soft skills, often referred to as interpersonal or people skills, are essential attributes that enable individuals to effectively communicate, collaborate, and interact with others. These skills include but are not limited to communication, empathy, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and adaptability. While technical proficiency and operational expertise are undoubtedly crucial for law enforcement, it is the soft skills that often determine the quality of interactions and the overall experience of the public.

At airports, police personnel encounter a wide range of individuals – travelers, tourists, airport staff, airline crew, and more. Each interaction presents an opportunity to not only enforce security measures but also to provide assistance, offer guidance, and instill a sense of confidence and safety in the public. Soft skills play a pivotal role in building rapport, diffusing tense situations, and fostering a positive atmosphere that enhances the overall airport experience.

Moreover, soft skills are instrumental in addressing emerging challenges such as cybercrime, human trafficking, and terrorism. Effective communication and collaboration among law enforcement agencies, as well as with other stakeholders within the airport ecosystem, are essential for identifying and mitigating these threats effectively.

DCP (IGI) Usha Rangnani stated that this collaborative effort between the IGI Airport Police and IndiGo Airlines underscores their shared commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and staff at the airport. By equipping police personnel with the necessary soft skills, both organizations aim to enhance the overall passenger experience and foster a culture of caring and excellence within the airport community. As on date, 200 number of police personnel have been covered under “Always Caring” programme

DCP Rangnani added that the IGI Airport Police plans to extend the "Always Caring" programme to cover rest of the police personnel in the coming future. This initiative reflects the commitment of the IGI Airport Police to continuous improvement and professional development, ensuring that all officers are well-prepared to serve the public with dedication and compassion.

The success of the "Always Caring" soft skill training programme highlights the positive outcomes that can be achieved through collaboration and shared objectives.

By honing their interpersonal skills, our officers can better serve the public, enhance security, and contribute to creating a welcoming and safe environment for all travelers. Through this training programme we reaffirm our commitment to equipping our officers with the necessary tools and capabilities to excel in their roles and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service.
