Delhi Police Special Cell arrests a Pakistani terrorist from Lakshminagar in Delhi, seizes AK-47 rifle, grenades hidden from Yamuna banks

New Delhi October 12

In big development in Delhi, the Delhi Police Special held a Paksitani terrorist from Lakshminagar area of the national capital. 

The arrested terrorist has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Alias Ali. 

The Special Cell officials said that he was residing in Shastrinagar area on a fake ID card to show his nationality as Indian. His name on the ID card was displayed as Ali Ahmad Noorie.  

The officials added that Ashraf belongs to Punjab province in Pakistan and moved to Delhi six months ago. 

The special cell seized one AK-47 assault rifle, one extra magazine and 60 rounds, one hand grenade, two pistols with rounds were seized from his possession. 

The police stated that he was living in the national capital for the past 15 years and used to provide weapons and logistics to the terrorists coming to India. He had hidden the weapons under the sand on the banks of the Yamuna River near Kalindi Kunj.

The Special Cell has booked him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Act, Arms Act & other provisions are being invoked against the arrested man. 

A team of special cell is conducting at his present address. The owner of his building was questioned by police who claimed with them that he had helped him made an Aadhar Card years ago not knowing that he was a Pakistan resident. 

The police are questioning the owner of the building as well as the neighbourhood to gather more details of Ashraf. 

Few days ago, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had held a meeting with top officials and discussed anti-terror measures in the wake of inputs that terrorists may target the national capital during the festive season. 

In September, the Special Cell had busted a big terror module of six terrorists from Delhi, UP and Mumbai, including two who were trained by the ISI in Pakistan and took instructions from underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s brother, Anees Ibrahim. The six men were trained in making IEDs were planning to carry out blasts during the festival period in India.
