The North East District Police arrested an alleged drug peddlar who was found to have over 11 kilograms of ganja (cannabis) in his possession.
The police identified the accused as Neeraj (28) of Saboli in North East District.
The police had received a tip off that one person is going to arrive near the market area of Harsh Vihar with the cannabis. Based on the information, the police laid a trap was laid. The police team saw the alleged accused coming there with a huge bag in his hand while he was found evasive, the police immediately nabbed him.
When the police searched his bag, packets of cannabis were found inside his bag.
Duing investigation the police found that he worked as an auto driver and used to purchase the consignment from one Raju residing near Badarpur Border Delhi, a permanent resident of Aligarh UP, after getting consignment he further supplied it in small quantities in the area of Nand Nagri to earn profit.
The police found him also involved in previous cases of alleged sale of narcotics drugs.
The police have booked the accused under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and taken up further investigations.
