'Durga Fighters', an all women commando unit of Chattisgarh Police to work in naxal affected zones

New Delhi, August 23

The Chattisgarh Police have constituted an all women fighter force of women officials named " Durga Fighter" to combat Naxalism in the Naxal-affected Sukma district. 

SP Sukma, Sunil Sharma said the force  comprises of 32 female officials. The new recruits would be trained for a month. 

The Chattisgarh Police officially informed about the women fighter force on the  occasion of Raksha Bandhan. 

The women commandos met the officials to constitute a District Reserve Force team for them. 

The officials informed that this team of Durga Fighters will perform all active duties like their male counterparts in naxal affected areas of Chattisgarh. 

The Sukma SP mentioned that the idea behind an all-women force is to promote gender equality.
