New Delhi, April 18

Enforcement directorate (ED) conducts searches at 50 locations including at the premises of online travel booking platform EaseMyTrip at their Gurugram office in connection with Mahadev betting app case.

The raids also included the premises of Nishant Pitti, founder of EaseMyTrip at Gurugram while the copany in a statement to media denied any association with the scam.

The agency raids were to ascertain evidence of suspected Rs. 6,000 crore proceeds of financial crime allegedly committed by Mahadev app’s promoters Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and Shubham Soni.

The ED probe stems from the FIR filed by the CBI to probe large-scale online gambling and online fraud. It had also carried out searches in March at the residence of former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel on charges that the Congress leader was also alleged beneficiary of the proceeds of crime.

ED believes some "proceeds of crime" from the illegal operations of the app (application) amounting to nearly Rs. 6,000 crore went to entities connected to Pitti.

The federal probe agency had stated the MOB app is an umbrella syndicate arranging online platforms for facilitating illegal betting by providing online platforms to register new users, generate user IDs, and launder money through a complex network of benami bank accounts.

It has arrested 12 people in this case till now and has registered a total of four charge sheets, including attaching, freezing or seizing properties worth Rs. 2,426 crore.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also conducted searches at the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in relation to this case.

The Mahadev Betting App case stems from an FIR alleging illegal gambling and cyber fraud worth Rs 15,000 crore against 32 individuals, including the app's "promoter" Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, Shubham Soni, and others
