'Helmet Man' Sandeep Shahi's story features in Kissa Khakhi Ka podcast

New Delhi, April 21

Kissa Khaki Ka, the official Delhi Police podcast, bringing to light the many stories of humanity, courage, crime and justice through its weekly episodes, will feature the story of Head Constable Sandeep Shahi in its latest episode.

Sandeep Shahi, hailing from Saran district of Bihar, was inducted in Delhi Police in 2003. Currently serving as Head Constable, Shahi faced a road accident in 2014, but was fortunate to be protected by a helmet. Shahi's concerns on the increasing number of casualties in police ranks due to road mishaps, intensified with consecutive accidents, prompted him to voluntarily take up the cause of road safety awareness for the public.

His unique campaigning style, combining the power of music and dance in his rallies, have attracted immense public attention. He has managed to  distribute more than 1100 helmets on Delhi roads, rightfully earning the title 'Helmet Man' by the media. His influence has inspired similar awareness campaigns in his village Devapura, and other regions including Chhapra, Sivan, Patna, Bokaro, Raipur, Bilaspur and Ayodhya.
