IAF officer dies in UP as parachute fails to open during skydivinv session

New Delhi, April 7
A 41-year-old Indian Air Force (IAF) officer died on after his parachute failed to open during a ‘demo drop’ at a skydiving training session in Agra.
The police said that Ram Kumar Tiwari, a Warrant Officer from a village in UP’s Pratapgarh district, was a para jump instructor in IAF’s Akash Ganga Skydiving team and had jumped off a chopper at a height of around 1,000 feet. But his parachute remained dysfunctional, causing a deadly fall.
He was rushed to the military hospital where he succumbed to his injuries within few hours.
This is a second such incident of parachute failing to deploy at the right moment in Agra after a Junior Warrant Officer Manju Nath (36) from Karnataka died during a routine para jumping exercise at Malpura dropping zone in February this year.
