J&K police rescue 430 civilians who were stranded at a resort during gunfight

New Delhi, July 27
The J&K police rescued 430 civilians who were stranded at Aharbal tourist resort in South Kashmir due to a gunfight between militants and security forces on July 26.
The police stated they were rescued after the gunfight stopped and necessary procedures were completed.
The security forces had gunned down an unidentified militant during the exchange of fire.
The J&K police spokesperson stated that the movement of people was halted for their own safety after exchange of fire between militants and security forces. Towards the evening, the civilians were safely taken to an evacuation point under the armed protection of policemen and 40 vehicles were arranged for their transportation.
The police are yet ascertaining the identity of the deceased militant.
