Maharashtra ATS and Mumbai Police begin grilling terror threat accused Jaan Mohd Shaikh's family

New Delhi, September 15

Following the arrest of six in the terror threat case including one from Maharashtra, the Maharashtra ATS and Mumbai Police have raided the residence and have geun grilling the family of the terror suspect Jaan Mohammed Shaikh. 

Mohd Shaikh alias 'Samir Kaalia' was nabbed by Delhi Police Special Cell on September 14.

The six are allegedly part of a Pakistan-backed terror module which included two trained by the ISI in Pakistan. 

The family of Shaikh - who is reportedly linked with the dreaded D-Company led by the fugitive mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar - lives in a slum of the Sion area for many years.

The officials said Shaikh's wife does odd jobs in the area and the couple has two daughters. 

The police teams are also talking to the people living in the vicinity to gather more details on him. The people knowing the couple have told the police that he mostly kept to himself and worked as a driver. 

Shaikh, who is believed to be close to Anees Ibrahim Kaskar, the younger sibling of the most wanted Dawood, was allegedly given the responsibility to deliver bombs, weapons, and grenades to various groups in the country to carry out the terror hits.

The militant module exposed by the Delhi Police was allegedly planning to carry out blasts all over India particularly during the festive season and create disturbances ahead of the upcoming polls in different states.
