MP minor rape case- Victim delivers child at the Chindwara police station

New Delhi, July 29

A 14-year-old alleged rape survivor gave birth to a baby at a police station in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara while filing her sexual assault complaint.

The mother, and the child were shifted to the district hospital, where they are doing well.

The MP police stated that the girl and her family had come to the police station to file a complaint of rape against a teenager, who lives in her village. 

The girl suddenly started crying due to labour pain. We took her to a room at the police station. She gave birth to a baby within half an hour, officials added.

The police said that the rape accused had promised to marry the girl. 

According to the police, the accused raped her in November and December 2020 and stopped her from filing a complaint . He reportedly promised the girl that he would marry her before the birth of the child. However, recently when he refused to marry her, the girl's family asked her to file a complaint.

The accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code’s Section 376 (rape) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
