The NIA Special Court Benglauru convicted three Al Qaeda - base movement terrorists in Mysuru court blast case
The accused identified as Nainar Abbas Ali alias Library Abbas, M Samsun Karim Raja aliaa Karim alias Abdul Karim and Dawood Sulaiman, residents of Tamil Nadu for their involvement in the bomb blast in August 2016 in a public toilet in court premises of Chamarajapuram of Mysuru City.
The case was originally registered as FIR. Lakshmipuram police station in Mysuru against unknown accused persons. Based on the orders of MHA, NIA had re-registered the case and taken over the investigation.
The NIA investigation had revealed that the bomb blast in Mysore Court on in August 2016 was one among the five series of bomb blasts committed by the members of base movement, an organization, owing allegiance to Al Qaeda, a proscribed Terrorist Organization.
They had also executed the bomb blast at Chittor Court( Nellore, Andhra Pradesh) on in April 2016 at Kollam Court, Kerala in May 2016 at Nellore Court, Andhra Pradesh in September 2016 and at Mallapuram Court, Kerala in November 2016.
The NIA investigation had revealed that the accused persons Nainar Abbas Ali and Dawood Sulaiman had formed the Base Movement, in Tamil Nadu in January, 2015, inspired by ideology of Al-Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden. They had recruited the other accused persons and hatched criminal conspiracy to threaten government departments, especially Courts, holding them responsible for atrocities and injustice meted out to a particular religious group. In pursuance to the conspiracy, they had systematically issued threats to prison authorities and police officials of different states and to French Embassy in India.
After investigation, NIA had filed chargesheet against three accused persons namely Nainar Abbas Ali, M Samsun Karim Raja and Dawood Sulaiman in May 2017 and the trial in the case was concluded on in September this year.
The NIA court held the three accused persons guilty and convicted them under various sections of the IPC.
The quantum of punishment against the convicted accused persons will be pronounced on October 11, officials added.
