Odisha police SOG personnel injured in a gunfight with Maoists
The police recovered 10 IEDs, a loaded pistol, and other incriminating materials
New Delhi, May 21
A member of Odisha Police's Special Operation Group sustained a bullet wound during a gunfight with Maoists.
The police informed that the incident occurred when SOG personnel took on the Maoists in the Sunabeda forest near Shivanarayanpur on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
The wounded jawaan was rushed to the hospital where his condition is reported stable.
The gunfight however continued with another group of Maoists approximately 3 km from Shivnarayanpur. However, the Maoists managed to escape.
During subsequent search operations, authorities recovered 10 IEDs, a loaded pistol, and other incriminating materials, officials added.
