Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana took the salute at the passing out parade of recruit constables held at Police Training College at Jharoda Kalan.
312 recruit constables of the 116th batch completed their training and will now be joining various units of Delhi Police.
171 candidates have been appointed on Compassionate Grounds in the place of their blood relations, who lost their lives while discharging duty. There are 11 Post Graduates, 116 Graduates, three B. Techs and one BBA & BCA each among these recruits.
The recruits also come from different regions of India i.e. Delhi-93, Haryana-88, Rajasthan-39, UP- 60, Maharashtra-04, H.P.-02, Uttrakhand, Punjab, Telangana, Bihar, West Bengal & Jharkhand - 01 each, while 20 are from North-Eastern States, giving the force an All India Character.
The officials from the Police Training College stated that constable Ankush Devi and constable Piyush Kumar were selected as ‘All-Round Best Cadet’ among males and females.
The Chief Guest, Delhi CP Rakesh Asthana took the salute and inspected the ceremonial parade. The CP, congratulated all the fresh recruits and lauded the drill instructors and PTC Staff for imparting excellent training to the newly inducted constables.
Welcoming them in the force, CP Delhi exhorted them to remain updated as per latest crime trends and make optimal use of technology in conducting investigation, gathering evidence and for prosecution procedures. Underlining the importance of Community Policing, Sh. Asthana said, “99% people of the society strive to live in peace and only a few want to disturb the tranquillity. Take those 99% in confidence and maintain harmony with their cooperation”.
The image of police should instil a sense of confidence in public, but at the same time criminals must fear it. He pressed them to strengthen the Constitution and Law of the land by performing their duty with bravery and balanced nature, with a neutral overview.
Besides topics on Effective Beat Patrolling, Preserving Law & Order, Picket Duties, Intelligence Collection & Investigation, these recruits have been imparted knowledge of IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act, Traffic Rules, computer & cyber crimes etc.
The officials added that experts were invited to educate them on gender sensitization, yoga and stress management. They have also been trained in un-armed combat and firing by modern weapons, besides skills in anti-terrorist measures.
Virender Singh, Spl CP, Training welcomed the chief guest and other attendees and presented a brief on training module for these constables.
The senior officers including Spl CPs, Jt CPs & DCPs attended the ceremony which was witnessed by parents and relatives of the trainees.
