Police retirement with pride, love, band, baaja- IPS officer Subodh Goswami is winning hearts of police personnel in Delhi

New Delhi, July 15

From what used to be a silent unnoticed departure of some fine police personnel and officials in Delhi, an IPS officer in Delhi Police has changed the paradigm of retirement and changed the view of retirement days to the most memorable days of lifetime.

When most retirement ceremonies pass as low key affairs, unnoticed, there is an IPS officer Subodh Goswami who has brought about a noticeable change by giving utmost respect to the retiring officials and this time even safai karamcharis and lower constabulary by celebrating their retirement.

Subodh Goswami, Deputy Director, Delhi Police Academy recently organised retirement ceremonies of the officers with pomp and show filling their eyes with tears and heart with pride.

Subodh Goswami, Deputy Director, DPA said, "Retirement of a police official is not just the last day of his work but it brings all memories of their entire life together. Usually the policemen retire in a low key way with after meeting and greeting their colleagues. It's everyone's dream to retire with honour, pride and respect. I wanted that the last day should become the most memorable day of their life. I simply believe that a man who did so much for this country in his own capacity should also get a king's treatment".

He added, "I would particularly like to mention that we organised retirement ceremony of safai karamchari Santara Devi who worked in DPA for more than two decades. Her contribution to DPA is notable and she deserved the respect of police for the same. We organised a lunch where she sat alongwith police officials and given an opportunity to speak".

Similarly, retirement ceremony of a sweeper in MTS, Ramesh Kumar was celebrated. Ramesh Kumar's heart was filled with happiness and pride when he saw police officials and senior officers giving him respect for his relentless service for several years.

Deputy Director, DPA Goswami said, "The other police officials who usually start their journey as Sub Inspectors and retire as ACPs also do not get a grand departing ceremony. The ACPs also retire in a simple and small gathering at their offices. These officials give more that two to three decades to police department and their contribution should be noted. They should be thanked for their years of service and given an assurance that the department cares. They should also feel good and their families who sacrifice a lot behind the scenes should be also thanked and appreciated".

Goswami recently organized a spectacular retirement ceremony of ACP Raj Singh who retired on June 30 from DPA Wazirabad.

ACP Raj Singh said, "I personally thank for this gesture. He is taking care of three centre of DPA and he personally spared time for my retirement ceremony. It fills my heart with pride. I would say it's his big heart and greatness that he sees no barrier between hierarchy of police  and treats every individual with respect. His gesture speaks volumes on his respect and value to officials like us who give almost give our entire life for the service of the citizens and the country".

ACP Raj Singh commanded the SWAT team (commando team) of Delhi Police Special Cell, served in Delhi Crime Branch and various police stations of Delhi Police as SHO and Sub Inspector earlier starting with Preet Vihar in his hay days.
Another Sub Inspector who retired form DPA was made to sit on a horse with band, music and dance making his last day, a dayfull of happiness and fun.

Goswami's efforts of retiring ceremonies have inspired many in Delhi Police to send off their officials with pride.

As additional DCP West district Goswami had first time organised a retirement ceremony for Sub Inspector Rohtas who was given a ceremonial farewell.

It was the first time in Delhi Police that a policemen from the rank of SI to ACP had received a farewell on a horse with band music, food and a huge gathering of his family and loved ones celebrating his journey in policing. SI Rohtas still carries the money of the ceremony in his joy and says it will stay with him forever that he received such warm love form his senior officer.
