The Karnataka Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing sexual abuse cases agaisnt politician Prajwal Revanna, has issued a lookout circular. The Karnataka CM Siddaramiah had ordered for the formation of a SIT to probe the sexual abuse allegations after the intervention of the State Women Rights Commission.
Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of JD(S) founder and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda. Several explicit videos went viral on social media in which Prajwal Revanna was allegedly involved.
Revanna was asked to appear before the SIT on April 30 however he didnt. He has sought seven days to appear before the SIT.
The SIT also issued notices to Prajwal and his father H D Revanna, who have been named as accused based on the complaint of one of the women.
As per the case details, a 47-year-old woman filed a police complaint alleging she was sexually abused by Prajwal and his father HD Revanna. the police registered the case after pen drives with 2,967 files went viral in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. A
The Janata Dal (Secular) suspended Prajwal from the party on Tuesday in light of the allegations, and said he will remain suspended until the SIT submits its report.
CM Siddaramaiah also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Centre to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal Revanna. The Karnataka chief minister said the Centre must ensure his return by making use of diplomatic and police channels.
Prajwal is suspected to be in Germany. Prajwal Revanna and H D Revanna have been booked under sections 354 (a) (sexual harassment), 354 (d) (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
