Seven including son of DMK lawmaker Y Prakash dead in a accident in Bengaluru

New Delhi, August 31

Seven youth died in a horrific car crash when an overloaded and speeding luxury Audi car lost control and first rammed into bollards and later a building in Bengaluru’s Koramangala. 

Karuna Sagar, son of Tamil Nadu’s ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam lawmaker Y Prakash, was among those killed in the accident. The six others were identified as Ishita, Dhanush, Akshay Goyal, Utsav, and Rohit.

While six died on the spot, seventh victim was rushed to the hospital however died on the way. 

The Bengaluru police said that the speeding car carrying seven people lost control around 1:45 am and crashed into the building. The car was completely crushed in the accident. None of the passengers were wearing seat belts hence the airbags did not open. 


The police scanned the CCTV footage from a building. The footage gave chills down the spine of the policemen, they expressed where they saw  the car passing through in a fraction of a second.

The officials added that they suspect that the car was at the speed of 150kmph seeing the speed at which it rammed into the sturdy bollards. After hitting the bollards, the car crashed onto the Punjab National Bank building. The car hit a corner of the building which slightly elevated.

The police further said that primary probe shows that is a case of over-speeding and negligent driving. The police will ascertain if the driver was under the influence of alcohol after post-mortem.

The Bangalore police have lodged a case under sections 279 (rash driving on a public way) and 304 (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
