New Delhi, December 15
Tough and bright young IPS officer, Manisha Chaudhary has taken over the new SSP of Chandigarh Police. This is an additional charge to her present posting as SSP Traffic and Security in Chandigarh Police.
Known for her strong and independent personality, she is one of the most appreciated young officers of Haryana Police with even the higher ups in Haryana Government appreciating her knack for crackdowns on gangs.
Handling a district as the chief of the same is not new for Manisha Chaudhary who has served as the chief of districts in Haryana, her parent cadre.
SSP Manisha Chaudhary is an IPS officer of 2011 batch of Haryana cadre who has served as SP Hisar and Panipat earlier. She took an inter cadre deputation in 2020 in UT cadre and was appointed as SSP (Traffic and Security) in Chandigarh Police.
Chaudhary has cracked down on organised liquor mafia of Haryana during her stints in Panipat and Hisar that drew attention of the Home Minister Anil Vij who also appreciated her efforts.
During her ongoing stint as SSP (Traffic and Security), the government had suddenly handed over the charge of Security to DANIPS cadre officer Manoj Kumar Meena in May this year. The Haryana Government took a strong objection to the same after which Chaudhary got the charge of Security division back.
As SP Panipat, Chaudhary faced a challenging situation where her name had appeared in the case of suicide of BJP councillor alongwith the names of other people.
Former councillor Harish Sharma had died by suicide in Binjhol area after whichhis family had levied allegations of Chaudhary and others for forcing him to take an extreme step. Sharma was allegedly booked alongwith his daughter and others for selling firecrackers illegally. Sharma was reportedly running pillar to post to get charges on daughter removed and alleged harassment by police.
The inclusion of her name was severely criticised by Haryana deputy CM Dushyant Chautala and Haryana H Anil Vij.
She then moved to Chandigarh on inter cadre deputation when the Haryana Government had recommended names of two other officers- Surinder Pal Singh of 2010 batch and Virender Kumar of 2011 batch for the UT Police to MHA. She however superseded them and appointed as SSP Traffic and Security in Chandigarh Police.
Chaudhary has had a clean image and no nonsense approach to crime. She is also known to be a tough officer who is a task master and her subordinates believe she has an independent thought process.
Known for her strong crackdowns and always on the go, she is active and ensures her team is as jubilant at work as at play.
On December 12, UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit had assigned the officiating charge of SSP (UT) to Chaudhary reliving Kuldeep Singh Chahal with immediate effect.
SSP Manisha Chaudhary took over as the SSP Chandigarh on December 14 and already began designing the roadmap ahead.
Chaudhary in a meeting with the UT Police emphasized on first knowing the crime sheet and immediate action on and road crimes, body offences and local gangs working in the area.
Besides tough investigations, Chaudhary is also known for her IT skills and is a graduate in Electronics and Communication from MBM Engineering College of Jodhpur.
Manisha Chaudhary will work as the SSP Chandigarh till the government selects a regular SSP from the list of the IPS officers sent to the Centre for clearance.
