Tribal woman gangraped in Chhattisgarh, six men arrested

The girl was on her way to a fair on Raksha Bandhan day when six men under influence of alcohol abducted her and gangraped her

New Delhi, August 23

A young tribal woman was allegedly gangraped by eight men after kidnapping her in Raigarh district of Chahttisgarh. 

The police stated that the woman filed a complaint saying that the incident happened on August 12 near a village in Pusaur area when she was going to visit a local fair after celebrating Rakshabandhan. While going to Raigarh, eight men allegedly kidnapped her and forcibly took her to a nearby pond and raped her there for five hours.

After the incident, the woman somehow reached her home and informed her family members, following which a complaint was filed with the police.

The probe shows that the accused were under the influence of alcohol and after seeing the woman alone, they abducted her, raped her and then fled from the spot.

The police registered an FIR under under sections 70(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (related to rape) 

The police stated that on August 20, the girl was gang-raped when she was on her way to visit a local fair, in this connection and six people were arrested.
