Union HM Amit Shah lays foundation stone for National Academy of Coastal Policing

New Delhi, May 20

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the permanent campus of National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP) at Dwarka, Gujarat at a cost of Rs.470 crore. 

Several dignitaries including Union Home Secretary and Director General of Border Security Force were present on the occasion.

In his address, Amit Shah said that the National Coastal Police Academy has been started today on more than 450 acres of land under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to strengthen coastal security in adverse weather and geographical conditions. He said that after becoming the Prime Minister of Shri Narendra Modi, the security of the country and the borders of the country has been strengthened and the citizens of the borders and the country feel safe. 

Shah said that in order to strengthen the border security, it is necessary that the living and working facilities of our border guards should be increased, the government should take care of the health of their family members and they should be provided with state-of-the-art equipment necessary for security. He said that the Modi government has left no stone unturned in these three areas and has tried to provide all kinds of facilities to our security forces.

HM said that recently the Indian Navy and the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) in collaboration with India's intelligence agencies have seized drugs worth Rs 12,000 crore off the coast of Kerala. He said that drugs worth Rs 680 crore were seized during the 10-year rule of the previous government, but now Indian security agencies have seized drugs worth Rs 12,000 crore in a single consignment, which shows that our agencies have become more prepared. Are.

Shah added that today is the death anniversary of Bipin Chandra Pal, one of the great freedom fighters known as Lal-Bal-Pal. Today is the birth anniversary of Martyr Piru Singh, awarded with Paramveer Chakra. Piru Singh ji worked to protect the country with his bravery without caring for his life and family. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also named an island in Andaman and Nicobar as Shaheed Piru Singh Island in the memory of Piru Singh.

The Union Home Minister said that there is no meaning of development in a country whose borders are not secure, the country can remain safe only by the round-the-clock security of the borders. He said that India has 15000 km long land border and 7516 km long sea border. He said that out of 7516 km long maritime border, 5422 km is the mainland border and 2000 km is the border of the islands. There are a total of 1382 islands, 3337 coastal villages, 11 major ports, 241 non-major ports, 135 establishments in space, defence, atomic energy, petroleum, shipping etc. on this 7516 kilometer sea border. He said that there was no special training system for all these guards, but after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, the need for security of the coastal borders was felt that the same type of response should be done in every coastal police station, must meet our border guards and Coast Guard jawans. This can happen only when training for coastal security is arranged in a planned manner. 

Shah said that the total number of Coastal Police personnel in the entire country is around 12,000 and once this academy becomes fully operational, there will be arrangement for training of 3,000 people in a year. In this way, in 4 years, 100 percent training of all the personnel involved in the coastal security of India will be completed. He said that an important task of ensuring coastal security is being done today because of the vision and determination of Shri Narendra Modi.

The Union Home Minister said that this coastal security policy has been prepared on several pillars. In this, coordination and communication in the matter of coastal security and intelligence, patrolling by setting protocols of patrolling by joint coastal patrols, arrangement of patrolling at fixed intervals, fishermen This includes providing security to fishermen, providing Aadhaar cards with more than 10 lakh QR codes to fishermen, ensuring security arrangements at 1537 fish leading points and ensuring security at all fishing harbors built for blue economy. He said that the work of making an impregnable fort for coastal security by combining all these has been done by the Narendra Modi government
