New Delhi, May 14
The Uttar Pradesh Government appointed Director General (Intelligence) Devendra Singh Chauhan as Uttar Pradesh DGP. Chauhan has been given additional charge till the government appoints a regular DGP.
The UP government had transferred out former DGP of UP Mukul Goel citing inaction in departmental work.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi passed the order of appointment on May 13.
After removal of Goel, ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar was given the additional charge of the state police chief.
DS Chauhan is an IPS officer of 1988 batch who was handling the post of Director General (Intelligence) in UP Police.
Goel, a 1987 batch-IPS officer, who has been made the Director General (DG) of the Civil Defence department, was removed from the post of DGP for neglecting official work, not taking interest in departmental work and inefficiency.
