The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested the “mastermind” of the UP police constable recruitment exam paper leak.
The accused was identified as Rajiv Nayan Mishra (32) from Prayagraj and was residing in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He was arrested from Greater Noida.
ADGP (Law and Order) UP STF, Amitabh Yash stated that on the basis of investigation and interrogation of previously arrested accused, the main accused, Rajiv Nayan Mishra, was arrested.
Mishra has previously been jailed in connection with the National Health Mission (NHM) staff recruitment exam scam in Gwalior and in the UP TET paper leak case.
During initial interrogation, investigators found that the (UP Police recruitment) paper was leaked to 500 people in Gurgaon and 300 in Rewa.
The police added that Mishra holds a B.Tech in civil engineering degree from a university in Bhopal. After the death of his parents, the accused stayed at his maternal uncle’s house and in 2010, took admission in a Bhopal college to pursue a B.Tech. It was here that he met two persons hailing from Bihar identified as Subhash Prakash and Atul Vats. They started running a gang.
According to the STF, they used to take money from people, offering admission in several colleges in Bhopal. Mishra, along with one Tarunesh Azaria alias ‘Guruji’ (a resident of Bhopal who ran a paper leak gang), leaked the paper for recruitment of nursing staff under NHM of Bhopal, for which he and Azaria were jailed.
The UP police recruitment exam paper was leaked on February 17 and 18 after a break-in at the premises of a firm based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. A total of 48 lakh candidates appeared for the exam to fill 60,244 constable positions. Amid protests by aspirants alleging a paper leak, the Uttar Pradesh government cancelled the examination in February and ordered a retest.
The government had to postpone the examination and it also transferred the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board chief, Renuka Mishra from the post of DG UP PRPB
