As many as 151 officers across the country from the ranks of DCP to lower constabulary received the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigations (UHMMEI) during the Independence Day 2022.
The country’s premier investigation agency, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) received highest number of medals with their officials receiving 15 medals while National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) bagged five medals respectively for excellence in investigation.
Among the UT cadre, Delhi Police bagged six medals that were conferred to Deepak Yadav, DCP Crime Branch Sanjay Dutt, ACP Special Cell and five police officials from Inspector to Sub Inspector.
Among the state police department- Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra state police officials received highest number of medals with 10 each.
The recipients are- Avdesh Singh Tomar, Officiating Inspector Madhya Pradesh, Ravindra Kumar Chawariya, Inspector Madhya Pradesh, Umashankar Mukati, SI Madhya Pradesh, Amrit Kumar Tigga, Inspector Madhya Pradesh, Saktooram Maravi, Inspector Madhya Pradesh, Shashi Vishwakarma, Inspector Madhya Pradesh, Santosh Kumar Pandre, Inspector Madhya Pradesh, Sonam Raghuwanshi, SI Madhya Pradesh and Sapna Rathore, SI Madhya Pradesh.
Officials Krishna Kant Upadhyay, Dy CP Maharashtra, Pramod Bhaskarrao Toradmal, Inspector Maharashtra, Manoj Mohan Pawar, Asst. Police Maharashtra, Dilip Shishupal Pawar, Inspector Maharashtra, Ashok Tanaji Virkar, SDPO Maharashtra, Ajit Bhagwat Patil, SDPO Maharashtra, Rani Tukaram Kale, Asst Inspector Maharashtra, Deepshikha Deepak Ware, Inspector Maharashtra, Sureshkumar Nanasaheb Raut, Inspector Maharashtra, Jitendra Bodappa Vankoti, Inspector Maharashtra and Sameer Suresh Ahirrao, Inspector Maharashtra received the prestigious medals.
The recipients from UP Police are Ram Govind Mishra, Inspector Uttar Pradesh, Neeraj Kumar Pal, Sub Inspector Uttar Pradesh, Bhaiya Shivprasad Singh, Inspector Uttar Pradesh, Santosh Kumar Sharma, Inspector Uttar Pradesh, Sansar Singh Rathi, Dy SP Uttar Pradesh, Yogendra Kumar, Inspector Uttar Pradesh, Kamlesh Singh, SHO Uttar Pradesh, Suraj Kumar Tiwari, Sub Inspector Uttar Pradesh, Saviratna Gautam, Dy SP Uttar Pradesh and Shailesh Kumar Rai, Inspector Uttar Pradesh
The Rajasthan Police officials- Gyan Prakash Naval, Addi DCP Rajasthan, Devendra, Inspector Rajasthan, Madhu Kanwar Rajpurohit, Sub Inspector Rajasthan, Anukruti Ujjeniya, Addi SP Rajasthan, Chhatar Singh, Inspector Rajasthan, Pooran Singh Rajpurohit, Inspector Rajasthan Sujana Ram, Sub Inspector Rajasthan and Bhawani Shankar Suthar, Sub Inspector Rajasthan won the medals making Rajasthan second highest recipient.
Similarly, West Bengal police is the second highest recipient of the UHMME with officials- Chandranath Aich Roy, Sub Inspector West Bengal, Himadri Chakraborty, Sub Inspector West Bengal, Sandip Pramanick, Sub Inspector West Bengal, Jayanta Pal, Sub Inspector West Bengal, Amit Kumar Singh, Sub Inspector West Bengal, Chandra Pratap Sharma, Sub Inspector West Bengal, Sohom Chatterjee, Sub Inspector West Bengal and Shovna Sewa, Sub Inspector West Bengal receiving the prestigious medals for their respective work.
The Kerala Police also received eight UHMMEI medals. The officials Anand R, AAIG Kerela, K Karthick, District Police Chief Kerela, Vipin VS, Inspector Kerela, Mahim Salim, Sub Inspector Kerela, Viju Kumar Nalinakshan, Dy SP Kerela, Karuppasamy, District Police Chief, Emmanuel Paul, Dy SP Kerela and Kumar R, Inspector Kerela are the recipients.
The UHMMEI is given to police officials across the country for their ground-breaking investigation. This medal was constituted in 2018, with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognize such Excellence in Investigation.
