New Delhi, June 10
The West Bengal CID team probing the murder of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar have found several human bones near a canal in South 24 Parganas.
The bones were recovered after the investigating agency got a big lead in the case after questioning Siam Hossain, who was recently arrested after the key conspirator ad butcher, Jihad Hawladar, an alleged Bangladeshi immigrant.
During interrogation, Siam Hossain revealed to the CID the exact location where the body parts of the Bangladesh MP were thrown. Based on the information, a team of the investigation agency began a search operation in Uttar Kashipur in Bhangar area in South 24 Parganas, officials said.
The officials added that as he mentioned, several human bones were found on the south-eastern bank of Bagjola canal in Bhangar’s Krishnamati village. The bones have been sent for forensic examination.
The accused was also taken to the flat in Kolkata's New Town area where Anwarul Azim Anar was last seen on May 12, to assist the CID in tracing the body parts of the Bangladesh MP and the tools used to commit the crime.
Gopal Biswas, a resident of north Kolkata's Baranagar and an acquaintance of Anwarul Azim Anar had registered a complaint with the local police on May 18 after the MP was missing for several hours. The Bangaldesh MP reportedly arrived in Kolkata on May 12 and had been staying at Biswas's house upon arrival.
Jihad Hawladar, a professional butcher, was a resident of Bangladesh's Barakpur and was staying in Mumbai illegally. He was hired by the Bangladesh politician's friend Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen, in whose rented accommodation he was murdered. He arrived in Kolkata over two months ago to commit the crime, police added.
