Court convicted accused charged with rape, murder probed by CBI

New Delhi, May 1

The special judge (POCSO), Shimla convicted accused in a case related to rape and murder of a minor girl (at Kotkhai, Himachal Pradesh). 

The accused identified as Anil Kumar alias Nilu alias Kamlesh was charged under sections 302, 376-A, 376(2) (I) of IPC and Section 4 of POCSO Act. 

The CBI had registered a case on in July 2017 on the orders passed in CWPIL No. 88 of 2017 of High Court of Himachal Pradesh and taken over the investigation of the case.

The case was first  registered at Kotkhai, District Shimla(Himachal Pradesh) on the allegations of rape and murder of a 16- year-old minor girl in the forest of Halaila, Kotkhai. Six persons were arrested by the HP police in the case.

The CBI filed a chargesheet in the court of Special Judge (POCSO), Shimla against accused Anil Kumar. The role of said six accused arrested by the state police was not allegedly found.

The CBI officials stated that after considering all the oral, documentary scientific, medical and circumstantial evidence etc on record, the trial court found the said accused guilty and convicted him.

The arguments on quantum of sentence is scheduled for May 11 by the court.
