Delhi Armed Police get training on public order and crowd control

New Delhi, March 23

In a first, the Delhi Police Armed Unit is getting trained in crowd control programme. 

Delhi CP Sachidanand Shrivastava decided to initiate the training programme to train the armed unit personnel in public order and  crowd control. The decision was taken keeping in view of the law and order situation in the national capital since recent years. 

75 police personnel are currently undergoing trained that started from March 22 and will go on till April 6 at RAF Academy of Public Order (RAPO), Meerut (UP). 

The Police Headquarter officials added that this training programme is first of its kind in the history of Delhi Police in which all the police personnel of Delhi Armed Police will be trained in all technical strategies of crowd control alongwith modern weapons and special techniques.  

The officials added that apart from this, the police personnel will be trained in psychology, public & police relations, communal harmony, various case studies, fire fighting technique, less lethal weapon/ammunition handling, new special devices, anti riots drill, human rights etc.

In the process of briefing, the selected police personnel were encouraged to keep proper discipline and obtain training by collecting information from the institute. This training will help the police personnel for proper handling of the law and order situation and enabling them in countering sensitive situations such as riots and protests effectively, officials stated
