Delhi Crime Branch held mastermind of an interstate sextortion racket from Rajasthan

New Delhi, October 23

A sextortionist who was allegedly cheating victims for lakhs of money was held from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. The Delhi Crime Branch held the kingpin who was cheating and threatening victims from over five states.

The accused was identified as Nasir Ashu from village Ishnaka of Nagar in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The crime branch had received a complaint from a senior retired person (name withheld) that he is receiving extortion calls from different numbers and the caller are introducing themselves as officials of You Tube. They are demanding huge amount of money by stating that they have received a complaint from a girl stating that he is exploiting her and they are having his video. They further instructed him to contact the persons of You Tube to remove his video from being uploaded on the internet. The fake officials of the so called YouTube demanded money from him for not uploading his video.

The officials added that out of fear of his social reputation he transferred Rs 4,00,000 approx from his bank accounts to the accounts provided by the extortionist as they told him to pay  the demanded money else he will be falsely implicated in a rape case and his video will be uploaded on various social media platforms.

The crime branch swung to action and developed various information regarding gangs of similar modus operandi and prime suspects mobile number. The police mounted technical survellinace and collected various crucial information leading to the accused persons and it was found that the extortionist were using more than 100 mobile phones and more than 1000 SIM cards issued on fake ID of various telecom sectors like Assam, Bihar, Rajasthan, Delhi etc.

During technical investigation it was learnt that the persons are operating from Mewat region around tehsil  Nagar, District Bharat Pur, Rajasthan. The crime branch zeroed in the kingpin of the gang namely Nasir who was going to visit Nagar in Bharatpur Rajasthan.

The team conducted raids in Mewat region of Nagar and held the accused.
Elaborating more on the accused, crime branch said that Nasir is 8th class pass. He has one brother namely Shakir, who is also wanted in this case. He was working as truck driver. Later on, he observed that many known persons of his circle were earning huge money with the use of cyber cheating and sextortion.  So, for the last two years he also got involved in the same crime and started extorting and cheating people through whats app and Facebook.


The police seized one Balero SUV has been recovered which has been purchased by Nasir through proceeds of his crime. The officials froze six bank accounts, which are used in transferring of cheated money. The mobile phones used in the commission of the offence have been fixed. They are in name of the accused person and his bother.  

The arrest has led to detection of five similar sextortion cases from Haryana, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Rajasthan.

The crime branch is now hunting for the co accused.
