Delhi Police Crackdown on blackmarkeeters, fraudsters, oxygen cylinders, concentrators seized, hospital admission fraudsters held

The Delhi Police teams from various districts held blackmarkeeters, fraudsters, oxygen cylinders, concentrators seized, hospital admission for ICU and more.

In the first case at New Delhi District, Police held four identified as Shehnawaz, Md. Naseem, Dalpreet, Rajes Kumar, a part of a gang that allegedly duped relatives of covid positive patients on the pretext of providing the oxygen gas regulators.   

The police had received information regarding offer of sale of oxygen to the needy people on social media. The given mobile number was contacted and the user was identified as Rajesh Shanker. 

On his identification, Dalpreet Singh was examined and he stated that due to covid crisis  the demand of oxygen regulators is very high .He alongwith one person namely Mahmood sold them on high rates due to non-availability of regulators. As per the given information by Dalpreet, the Special Staff team reached at the spot at at Nabi Karim and recovered a total 38 oxygen regulators and  gloves from the possession of two persons Mohd. Naseem and  Shehnawaz. 

Dalpreet told police that they are hoarding the oxygen cylinders/regulators at Nabi Karim in black and sold them on high rates due to non-availability of them.

In the second case at South District, two were held while 10 oxygen concentrator and 82 plastic pipes used in concentrators, 3486 digital thermometers, 263 digital gun thermometers, 684 oximeters and 10 nebulizers seized

The Greater Kailash police had received information about a person who sells Covid19 related medical equipments at a higher price than market price ) in M Block Market GK-1.

The police formed a team under ACP Lakshay Pandey to trap the accused. While laying the trap, they noticed one alto car coming towards M Block Market parking GK-1 . 

The secret informer signalled towards the hoarder and team apprehended him. 

On checking of Alto car, four medical oxygen concentrator , 40 digital thermometer, 10 infra gun and 20 oximeter were found. 

The accused was identified as Saeed Hanif from Jamia Nagar and four medical oxygen concentrators, 10 infrared machines, 20 oximeter and 40 thermometer were found in his possession.  

He stated that he works with Muqueem and shares profit. The police conducted raids and found six medical oxygen concentrator and 82 plastic pipe used in concentrators, 

3446 digital thermometer, 253 digital gun thermometer , 664 oximeter and 10 nebulizers were found from the warehouse of accused Muqueem of Shaheen bagh Jamia Nagar..

Both accused disclosed that they were selling essential life saving equipments on higher rates than market rate, officials said. 

In another case, police arrested a cheat who used to cheat distressed relatives of covid positive people, on the pretext of providing ICU beds in hospitals. 

The police have so far identified 11 victims who have been cheated for an amount of Rs.1,30,000/-.

The police arrested accused Imran Ahmed from Karol Bagh. 

Ankit Bansal from Sector 16, Rohini had lodged a police complaint that one of his closed relative was detected covid positive and required admission in hospital as his oxygen level detoriated. On May 3, he got a contact number of a person in a forwarded WhatsApp message, who could provide oxygen bed in hospital. 

As he was in dire need of hospital facility, he contacted the alleged person on given mobile number. The alleged person demanded Rs. 30,000/- for arranging ICU beds and later the deal was finalized for Rs. 20,000/-. The alleged person provided an account number with IFSC code of Kotak Mahindra Bank and directed the victim to deposited 50% of the amount in said account. However, after receiving the amount the alleged person started ignoring the calls and messages of the complainant.

The police lodged a case and obtained bank account detail of alleged person. Thereafter, on the basis of technical surveillance and ground intelligence the team identified the  person as Imran Ahmed and apprehended him after laying a trap near his house within 24 hours of reporting of the incident. 

The mobile phone used to cheat the innocent people and the credit and debit cards used to withdraw the amount from said account were recovered from his possession.

On analysis of WhatsApp call details and WhatsApp chats of the recovered mobile phone and on the basis of analysis of the account statement of alleged cheat, more victims have been identified. 

The police added that since May 1, he has cheated more than ten innocent distressed people for an amount of Rs. 1,30,000/- for providing ICU beds to their covid positive relatives in recognized hospitals. The corresponding complaints/cases reported by victims are being checked.

The police seized one smart mobile phone having two sim cards used in cheating and one credit card, one debit card related to alleged bank account.

The police are further investigating the case on analysis of money trails in bank accounts. 

The west district police arrested one ambulance owner who was cheating citizens with high amount. 

The police had received information was received that a company in the name of "Cardeacare Ambulance Pvt. Ltd." at Dashghara village Inderpuri was providing ambulance service and was overcharging by 2/3 times above of the actual fare for transportation of Covid-19 patients in its ambulances.

The police traced accused identified as Mimoh Kumar Bundwal, who was running an ambulance service company in the name of Cardiacare ambulance Pvt Ltd. 

During investigation it was revealed that he has cheated numerous people. The accused himself is a MBBS doctor who is involved in the ambulance business for the last 2 years. One of the victims being from DLF Gurugram who hired ambulance from above company from Gurugram to Ludhiana for Rs. 1.20 lacs on 05.05.21. During investigation, bank account of ambulance Service Company are also obtained and the same are being analyzed. The accused has returned the cheated money to the victim after being nabbed by the police. Further investigation is in progress.

The police have seized his ambulance. 

In another case at Outer District, the police arrested security guard of a hospital for black marketing of life saving medicine. 

The police had received information about a person coming near Nangloi Metro Station for delivery of Remdesivir Injections (vital drug in treatment of Corona) at exorbitant price. 

A trap was immediately laid under instructions of near Nangloi Metro Station and accused was apprehended from the spot. 

The accused was identified as Prahlad Kumar from Sector-7, Rohini..

Three Remdesivir injections were recovered from his possession. On enquiry, neither he could produce any medical prescription nor any Invoice Bill for the injections. 

He could not satisfactorily explain the possession of Remdesivir Injections by him. The police officials stated it is revealed that accused Prahlad is working as a Security Guard at Shri Agrasen International Hospital, Sector-22, Rohini for the last two years. His duty is at Covid Ward. He removed Remdesivir Injections from the tray of patients admitted in the Covid Ward while they were asleep.

He had come to deliver three Remdesivir Injections to a decoy customer at the rate of Rs. 20,000/- for each injection. While the MRP of one such injection is Rs. 3490/-.

The police are further probing the case. 

The outer district, in another case, held two who were a part of Covid cheats gang and were allegedly found selling duplicate injections. 

The police said s PCR Call was received in the Nangloi police station that an individual is selling duplicate Remdesivir injection. The complainant Rahul from Nangloi who stated that he got the contact information of the Remdesivir dealer from Google and reached out to him as he required the injection for his uncle who was hospitalised due to covid.

The suspect called Rahul in Rohini area on May 1 to finalise the deal where he was handed over one Remdesivir injection in exchange for 30,000 rupees.

His uncle however, passed away before using Remdesivir injection. 

As the complainant still possessed the injection he noticed something to be suspicious and subsequently called the PCR. 

During investigation the details of the suspect were collected from the complainant and technical surveillance was deployed. Alongside the suspects were also contacted by deployment of a decoy.

A trap was laid and one of the suspects finalised the deal for another trade-in. AAftera few hours of pursuit two people were finally apprehended in this matter namely Kamal and Deepak. 

The police stated that Kamal from Shalimar Bagh works as dialysis staff at a hospital in Shalimar Bagh while Deepak from Shalimar Bagh is room mate of Kamal and runs a firm by the name of Home Care to provide nurse and attendant to home care patients. e

The police seized 15 fake Remdesivir injections, cash of Rs. 34,000, one Santro car and one Oxygen concentrator machine. 

The Southeast District police arrested one notorious covid related essential goods supplier Varun Sahani from Tilaknagar.  With his arrest three vials of Remdesivir injection with two vials of sterile water have been seized. 

The police laid a trap at Crown Plaza Red Light, Okhla where the accused was going to arrive. At the spot, one person carrying a sky color chiller box reached near Crown Plaza Red Light opposite petrol pump towards Sarita Vihar underpass. 

When searched he was found with a box containing total three Remdisivir injections with two vials of sterile water for injection required for Covid patients. 

Varun Sahani confessed that he was directed by his neighbour to sell these injections to one person at Okhla. He came to Okhla Crown Plaza Red Light to sell the injection but police staff caught him red handed with the Remdisever injections. 

In another case, a tution teacher was held for selling medicines and supplies related to Covid at higher rates. 

The Kalkaji police station had received a PCR call that one person introducing himself as Abhishek Pruthi is demanding higher rate of Ramdesivir injection. 

The police inquired upon the number it was found to be registered on his name with address from Govinpuri

The police conducted a raid at the residence of the accused person. The accussed was held and his mobile phone used in the commission of crime and some medicines used in the Covid treatment have been recovered. 

Abhishek Pruthi disclosed that he is a private teacher. His family members had become Covid positive and at that time he purchased numerous covid medicines. After recovery of his family members he decided to earn money by selling these medicines at higher rates and publicize it through whatsapp status. The complainant Rohit Rajpoot contacted him over phone for medicines but deal could not be finalized and he made PCR call in this regard.

In yet another case, police held a Covid cheat, who used to cheat distressed relatives of covid positive people on the pretext of providing blood plasma. He has so far cheated seven 7 victims for over Rs.one lakh

The accused was identified as Sunny Dilip Singh from Nangloi.  

The police stated a woman known to complainant was detected covid positive and was admitted in Max Hospital Saket, who was in need of a plasma donor. Guneet Singh Jaggi relative of complainant got a contact number of a person on facebook, who could provide plasma donor in ILBS hospital, Vasant Kunj. As he was in dire need of Plasma he contacted the alleged person on given mobile number 9811599971. 

The alleged person demanded Rs. 50,000/- for arranging the blood plasma. The alleged person provided a SBI account number 37555537029 IFSC-SBIN0000737 and directed the victim to deposit the amount in said account, officials added.

According to police, Gurneet Singh Jaggi transferred an amount of Rs. 10,000/- in the mentioned account. However, after receiving the amount the alleged person started ignoring the calls and messages of the complainant and the alleged person switched off his mobile too. 

On May 6, a complaint was received in the PS Vasant Kunj South in this regard. 

The team acted on electronic surveillance and obtained CDRs of several mobile numbers as well as bank account details of alleged person. Thereafter, on the basis of technical surveillance and ground intelligence the police found Sunny within 24 hours of reporting of the incident. 

The cash amounting to Rs. 29,460/- was also recovered from his possession. On analysis of the bank account statement details and on the basis of analysis of the CDR of his mobile no. 9811599971, seven more victims have been identified so far. He involved himself in this malpractice during the covid epidemic. 

The police added that if he was not apprehended, he could have targeted many other distressed people. The police froze his ban account. 

Interestingly, Sunny is a professional blood donor. He used to arrange blood for patients in LNJP, Kalavati, Bara Hindu Rao Hospitals etc for monetary gains. He was earlier arrested under preventive sections og 107/151 CrPC in Subzi Mandi, Hauz Khas police stations. 

The accused in these cases have been booked under 3/7 Essential Commodities Act, 3/4 Epidemic diseases Act, 18 (C) 27 Drug and Cosmetic Act, 420/276/188/120B/34 IPC and 51 Disaster Management Act.
