Delhi Police New Delhi District rescued 14 children from begging

New Delhi, April 11

Delhi Police New Delhi District rescued 14 children from begging from the areas of Hanuman Mandir and Shivaji Stadium. 

The New Delhi District carried out a joint rescue operation against the menace of child begging was conducted in Connaught Place. 

The operation was supervised by Shyam Narain Singh (District Child Protection Officer) along with his team, Vivek Pandey (Child Line Foundation) and Santosh Gupta (Salaam Baalak Trust) with the help of local police and SJPU of New Delhi District. 

Out of the14 children, five were boys while nine were girls.

The medical examination of all the children in need of care and protection has been conducted at Lady Hardinge Medical College at Mandir Marg.

The Chairperson CWC-IX Purnima R. was also present at the Rain Basera, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, New Delhi where she ordered that all children be shifted for night stay in various stay homes up to April 12.

The officials added that all the children in need of care and protection will be produced before the CWC-IX by the Child Line foundation on April 12.

The police stated that two boys below 06 years have been shifted to Welfare Home For Children (Special Agency Adoption) Sarita Vihar, Delhi, three boys were shifted to Bal Sehyog Boys Home, Outer Circle Opposite L- Block Connaught Place, five girls have been shifted to Katyani Balika Ashram, Jhandewalan and four girls have been shifted to Flag Home, Karol Bagh.
