New Delhi, April 11
In a first, Delhi Police launched a public library at Jamia Nagar police station under South East District to build strong connection of police with citizens in the area. This library is touted to be the first digital in the country's police stations.
DCP South East, RP Meena said, "Delhi Police Public Library is a unique community policing initiative of Delhi Police as it provides free educational facilities to the students of weaker sections. The youth, belonging to lower strata of the society can now enroll themselves free of cost in the police-public library for preparation of various competitive exams".
The officials said that the Police Public Library will provide coaching for Civil Services Examination and entrance Exams of CLAT/AILET/ Jamia & Premier Law Universities.
The ceremonial program held at Jamia Nagar police station was attended by Suvashish Choudhary, Joint C.P., Southern Range) who was the as the Chief Guest, R.P. Meena, IPS, (DCP, South-East) who was the Guest of Honor, Surender Chaudhary IPS (Addl.DCP-I,South-East), Dhal Singh (Addl. DCP-II, South-East), ACP Avnish Kumar, SDPO New Friends Colony and hrawan Gupta, Managing Director, Manu Law Classes.
Many aspirants students of various competitive exams were also present at the occasion.
The library contains more than 5000 books are available for preparation of UPSC, SSC, CTET, NET and other competitive exams. More than 1000 old magazines for references and 15 various national news papers available at the library.
The officials added that aspirants with 15yrs of age and studying in 9th standard or above may enroll themselves. The library will remain open for a stretch of eight hours from 09 am to 05 pm.
The police also plan to offer crash courses for UPSC, SSC, IBPS and all other graduation level exams, sport activities and cultural programs, poetry evenings and awareness programs and other community policing initiatives.
