Delhi Police suspends DCP who was booked by CBI for forgery of his certificates used in UPSC exam

New Delhi, June 13

A DANIPs (Delhi Andaman & Nicobar Islands Police Services) officer posted as DCP in Delhi Police has been suspended from services after a departmental inquiry following investigation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in forgery and cheating case.  

The officer in question has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, 2009 batch DANIPS officer, who was currently holding the position of DCP in Delhi Police Armed Unit.  

The CBI had registered a case against the DCP in 2020 for alleged impersonation, cheating, forgery etc. He was additional DCP then. A complainant from Jhajjar had alerted the authorities that the officer had allegedly used forged birth certificates to get age relaxation for UPSC. 

An order from the GNCTD dated June 10 states that the complainant in the case alleged that the DCP used educational qualifications and DOB documents belonging to some other person with the same name. 

The chargesheet has been filed against the (DCP), DANIPS-2009, by the CBI.

After the chargesheet and departmental enquiry, officials found that the DCP is allegedly involved in the forgery and cheating case. He has been suspended from duty and asked to report to the NCT Headquarters.

The order reads, “The said (DCP), DANIPS 2009 (officer) shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission of the competent authority”. 

The order has been forwarded to the Delhi Police Commissioner, the DCP, Special Secretary to Lieutenant Governor and Vigilance department.
