New Delhi, November 6
The Delhi Police’s Vigilance unit arrested an assistant sub-inspector for allegedly demanding a Rs 50,000 bribe from a man to settle a financial dispute and accepting a portion of it.
The vigilance department stated ASI Pramod Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant from Rohtak in Haryana.
Pramod, who hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, joined the Delhi Police in 1991.
As per the case details, the complainant told the Vigilance unit that the ASI had summoned him in a financial dispute and forced him to settle the matter. The complainant claimed that he was threatened with arrest unless he settled the matter in favour of the other party.
DCP (Vigilance) Anyesh Roy stated that ASI Pramod demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to settle the matter but later agreed to Rs 50,000. He had called the complainant to pay the first instalment.
The vigilance team laid a trap and apprehended Pramod during the bribe exchange while recovering bribe money from his office table drawer.
