Missing woman of Delhi abducted. gangraped and strangled to death by two men in Jhajjar

New Delhi, March 23

A month after a woman went missing from her home in Delhi, her decomposing body was recovered from a pit in Jhajjar area in Haryana. 

The police investigation showed that the woman was allegedly kidnapped, gangraped and strangled to death by two men who called her to Jhajjar on the pretext of giving her a loan. 

The police arrested the accused who were identified as Raj (65) alias Raju and Rajesh (40), is an ex-army man. Raj owns several farms in the village and the body of the woman was found at one of them inside a four feet deep pit.

As per the case details, the woman was a widow who was living only with her minor daughter. Her family had reported her missing on February 15. Her family said she left for Jhajjar but never returned, and her phone was also switched off. They approached the Delhi and Haryana Police. A zero FIR was first lodged in Delhi and the case was transferred to Jhajjar Police on February 28. 

The police that found no leads initially traced the accused through the call details. Raj’s number was found on the call records of the woman. When the police questioned him, he ttied to mislead the investigators. The police recorded statements of his neighbours and found that Raj was lying.

The woman was facing financial woes since her husband’s death and wanted to earn more when the accused trapped her and offered money through loan. The accused had called the her to meet. As soon as she arrived in a bus, they abducted her and gangraped her. Fearing arrest, they later strangulated her to death and buried her body.

The police got the body of the woman exhumed from Raj's farm after he disclosed the location to police. The body was sent for an autopsy and the report is awaited, police added.
