One dead while two injured in a police firing at Patna

New Delhi, October 23

A youth was killed and two others were injured after police allegedly opened fire on a group of villagers protesting against a mukhiya candidate.

The protests were going onnagainst the candidate for the upcoming October 24 panchayat elections at Moriyama village of rural Patna.

The deceased was identified as Rohit Choudhary.

The villagers alleged that police raided several houses on the pretext of storage of liquor. The villagers protested against the raid and shouted slogans against the candidate. When the situation turned out of control, the police allegedly opened fire. 

IGP Patna, Sanjay Singh stated that several teams of police were rushed to the spot to contain the situation.

The police have so far not registered a case in the incident while the villagers raised protest against the police action.
