Tamil Nadu Police arrests historysheeter in an encounter who attacked police during arrest

The Tamil Nadu police arrested a historysheeter in a brief encounter in Kanyakumari district after he allegedly attacked and injured a police official with a knife when the cops tried to arrest him in connection with a snatching case.
The accused was identified as R Selvam, who had attacked a man with a knife and snatched Rs 2,000 from him near the Alagupuram area in Kanyakumari district.
After the incident, the police team traced Selvam's locations and when Sub-Inspector (SI) Paulraj attempted to arrest him, he pulled out a knife and attacked Paulraj, injuring him in his left hand.
To control the situation, Inspector Adam Ali, fired a warning shot in the air, but Selvam persisted in attacking Palraj. Subsequently, Ali shot Selvam in his right leg.
After the incident, both Paulraj and Selvam were then taken to a hospital where they were undergoing treatment.
Selvam has 27 pending cases, including murder charges in several districts. Further investigation is underway.
