The UP Police arrested a man and his sons for allegedly killing his daughter's mother-in-law in Bareilly in an act of revenge of his daughter's marriage to her son without his wish.
The police said the attack was carried out as the victim’s son eloped with the main accused’s daughter and married her in April 2020.
The police said the accused’s family was against the relationship and harbouring enmity. The girl in question was a minor at the time of eloping.
The couple had returned home after few days and by then, she had turned 18 years old. After the wedding, the victim’s family fled the village, fearing for their lives, and relocated to Jaipur.
The police added that recently the victim and her husband returned to the village for some personal work when assailants set on them. While her husband managed to escape, the attackers hit her with sticks.
The police filed an FIR against the accused, his sons and one nephew who planned an attack on the victim and her husband.
