The Delhi Police celebrated their Platinum Jubilee 75th Raising Day with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as a chief guest for a grand event organised in new police lines at Delhi.
The Delhi Police contingents showcased a spectacular parade while exhibiting their high end modernized police control room vans, all women police control room vans, mounted squad, dog squad, water cannon vans and bullet proof vehicles of the commando forces.
Delhi Police Commando Suraksha Batallion marched in the parade for the first time. The parade also featured a large fleet of female officers of Delhi Police along with other sections of the force.
The parade was led by parade commanders additional DCP Akshat Kaushal and Manasvi Vashisht.
The parade comprised of seven companies and a total of 21 platoons with ADC Ramavtar and Rakesh Kumar. Additional DCPs Vishesh Dhatarval, Brijmohan Meena and Vidushi Kaushik monitored the platoons.
HM Amit Shah inspected the parade along with Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana.
HM Shah released a Delhi Police Commemoration Stamp’ along with MoS (Communications) Devusinh Chauhan and Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Police, in recognition of 75 years of glorious services rendered by Delhi Police to its citizens.
HM Amit Shah while addressing the officers and attendees said, “When we are celebrating festivals and events, Delhi Police are working to secure us in our homes and festivals. They are relentlessly working for us and sacrificing their lives for us. I am proud of the work of Delhi Police”.
He said, “At 2am, when one citizen calls the police control room while rest of the people are asleep, the police has to stay alert 24/7 to ensure that one phone call is attended. Neither they eat or sleep on time or celebrate festivals with families. When they become old they face lot of ailments and health issues”.
Shah mentioned that 35,000 personnel from police and CAPFS were martyred in the line of duty in last one year.
While making an important note on the stress and behaviour of police, Shah said, “The perception management department has been created to improvise the perception of police which will also work on police behaviour that often changes due to high stress work. The division of Delhi Police in 12 sections and making of 12 committees has been brought for better supervision and work, which will bear fruits in future”.
Shah emphasized on the housing and infrastructure of the Delhi Police.
Shah said, “We are starting the housing and infrastructure projects worth Rs. 450 crores for Delhi Police from today.
We are building 24 police housing colonies in Rohini Sector5, a police bhavan and 63 police houses in Shahdara, DCP office and 48 government houses in Dabri, 198 police houses in Dwarka, 360 government houses in Mandawli, one in Pandavnagar and a special police bhawan for women and children in Nankpura”.
HM Shah emphasized that the housing satisfaction level among in Delhi Police which was at 19% in 2019 is expected to go up by 24% by 2024.
Shah added, “Delhi Police has been at the forefront of facing cases of terrorism, narcotics, cybercrimes, fake currency and everyday crimes tackling it with utmost competence. I wish that when the country celebrates 100 years of freedom and Delhi Police their 100th Raising Day, the country would see a shining, successful and powerful entity of Delhi Police in the country”.
HM Shah handed out medals to Delhi Police personnel on the occasion of its Platinum Jubilee Raising Day to many officers of Delhi Police.
The HM gave medals to 62 police personnel for Gallantry, Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service and Jeevan Raksha Padak.
Poonam Parik widow of Late HC Rattan Lal received the Gallantry Medal conferred posthumously upon him.
Besides, 45 police personnel were awarded Asadharan Karya Puraskar and 164 kin of deceased police personnel were granted jobs on compassionate ground. A special medal has been dedicated in the memory of Late HC Rattan Lal, who attained martyrdom in North East riots.
In addition to that, three trophies for the best police stations were also given. The trophy of Best Police Station was bagged by Kanjhawla police station, while Krishna Nagar and Kashmere Gate police stations took the first and second runners-up trophies, respectively.
Shah also inaugurated the newly constructed DCP office complex at Rohini district while attended an exhibition 'Koshish ek Asha' organized by the Police Families Welfare Association (PFWS).
Speaking at the Delhi Police's 75th Raising Day, Delhi Commissioner of Police Rakesh Asthana said that ensuring the safety of women remained the force’s objective.
“Women safety is of utmost priority to the Delhi Police. Our target is to increase the participation of women police personnel by 1/4 till 2025,” he said.
The CP Delhi further stated that the force is also committed for welfare of its personnel and has given more than 5,000 promotions in current year, 48 of which were out-of-turn promotions.
He added, "79 police personnel lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which Delhi Police remained at frontline with doctors & health workers and provided all possible assistance to citizenry going beyond the call of duty".
Delhi Police have received one Ashok Chakra, 5 Kirti Chakra, 23 President Police Medal (Gallantry), 275 Police Medal for Gallantry, 26 Police Medal for Life Saving, 183 President PM for Distinguished Services, 106 Presidents Medal for Meritorious Services and 24 HM excellence in police training.
Ajay Bhalla, Union Home Secretary, Sh. Arvind Kumar, Director, Intelligence Bureau, Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Director, CBI, Kiran Bedi, Former Governor, Pudduchery, former Commissioners of Police TR Kakkar, Dr. KK Paul, RS Gupta and BK Gupta and several retired as well as serving senior police officers were present on the occasion.
