356 girls and women in Dwarka take training in self defence while senior citizens get free treatment

New Delhi, February 21

The Dwarka district polic of Delhi Police trained girls and women in slum quarters and rural areas in basic self defence techniques which saw a huge participation of women. Over 300 girls received training from police. 

DCP Dwarka District, Santosh Kumar Meena stated that young girls from the schools in the district were selected for self defence training and many were motivated and trained by trained policemen. The training of the women began two weeks ago that ended on Sunday with many girls empowered with skills that will help them deal with countering emergency situations, eve teasing and harassment. 

The girls were taught self defence as a part of the 'SASHAKTI' programme of Delhi Police.

The policemen held sessions with children at Bindapur and briefed them about various work of police. The children were taught basics on law and order, traffic and inculcated with values to observe law and follow rules in their ongoing learning process. 

The officials added that the children were given a detour of the police station where the role of policemen and work was explained to them. 

The officials said they also met senior citizens of the same vicinity who were given assurance of the work of police in their area and the fact that special desks are carved out for them to attend their complaints and issues. Many senior citizens expressed their ongoing issues and sought help from policemen. A health check up was organized for them in association with Ansari Hospital at Sagarpur where many were also given free medicines for their ailments. 

In addition to that, the policemen also appreciated and boosted morale of the Divyang cricket team of Rao Convent School in Pandwal Khurd. 

The Jan Sampark Vahan of police reached various areas of the district to publicize various online services, mobile applications, helpline numbers and other facilities for citizens of Delhi.  The van demonstrated  Delhi Police Heritage, good works done by Delhi Police during Covid-19 pandemic & lockdown and various online services/facilities available for the public on screens to citizens. 

The policemen also took out a cycle rally alongwith the locals of the area to develop better relations with citizens and motivate them to come forward for help, the officials added.
