CBI court sentences two in unauthorized diversion of imported Naphtha

The accused persons in criminal conspiracy diverted large quantity of imported naphtha by preparing false/fake records : CBI

New Delhi, March 1

The Special Judicial Magistrate, CBI, Haryana at Panchkula, has sentenced accused persons namely Atul Jindal to three years wand Sanjay Kumar alias Sanjay Mittal to two years. 

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on accused company M/s Sri Hari Promoters Ltd, said CBI. 

CBI had registered the instant case in 2003 against Sanjay Jindal, Director M/s Sri Hari Promoters Ltd. and unknown persons on the outcome of a preliminary enquiry, which was registered on the direction of Gujarat HC.  The accused persons in criminal conspiracy diverted large quantity of imported naphtha by preparing false/fake records.

As per their modus operandi, accused persons imported naphtha for allegedly   manufacturing agro products, however, they diverted large quantity of imported naphtha by preparing false/fake records and submitted forged/fake end-use certificates to Authorities of District Food Supplies Controller (DFSC), Excise Dept. and Sale Tax Dept. They also kept control of the company through dummy directors with intent to shield themselves from any consequences of their acts, officials added.
