Delhi Police arrests a gang of robbers from Odisha who robbed in Defence Colony area

New Delhi, April 7
A gang of thieves from Odisha was busted by the Delhi Police following the arrest of a domestic servant involved in a major burglary in Defence Colony last year.
As per the case details, a gang of robbers had robbed gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 80 lakh and Rs 6 lakh in cash on December 26.
The investigation revealed that the accused, Nirmal Malik, had started working as a domestic help at the residence just 12 days before the incident. After carefully observing the household and learning that the homeowner and her family were travelling to Goa from December 23-28, police said he orchestrated a plan to rob the house. On the day of the crime, Nirmal called his associate, Dharmendra Dass, to assist in the burglary.
The police used technical surveillance and trackes his movements through call detail records. Police found out that the accused lived in Chirag Dilli village and the house was rented to Dass.
DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan stated that accused was traced to Ishwarpur outpost area in Balasore district in Odisha. He was arrested with the help of local police staff of PS Nilagiri. Nirmal was arrested in Bengaluru, where he was working as a cook in a residential society.
