Delhi police IGI airport unit held three for loot and murder of Somaliyan native

New Delhi, May 18

Delhi police IGI airport unit held three for loot and murder of Somaliyan native who was in Delhi for his treatment.  

The accused were identified as Virender Singh, Gopal Singh and Dilbagh all residents of Rangpuri, Delhi.

The IGI Airport police stated a PCR call was received at IGI Airport police station regarding a person is lying dead near Centaur Hospital, IGI Airport. When the police reached the spot, they found a person was found lying dead on foot path near Centaur Hotel. 

During the search at the spot, one mobile phone of BMP cold colour was found near the body which was on. The last dialled number from the mobile was called which belonged to one Manoj Sahu, a travel agent. On interrogation, the travel agent sent the copy of the passport of the deceased person and identified him as Mr. Jama Said Farah, a citizen of Kenya who had booked a ticket through him for May 17 for Delhi to Somaliya. 

The police added that later, the travel agent informed the daughter of the deceased person about the incident. Thereafter, the daughter of deceased Jena called police and informed that his father came to India 2 weeks ago for the treatment of some heart disease. 

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic his treatment was postponed by the hospital. Hence, he was going back to his country via Somalia. However he was denied immigration clearance at IGI Airport, New Delhi due to non availability of visa of Somalia with him and was off loaded by airlines. On being off loaded he came outside the Airport terminal and took a taxi No. HR-55-AF-5435 for a hotel in Mahipal Pur and since then she has no contact with her father. Later, he was found dead in the area of PS IGI Airport.

The police added that MLC was prepared at Safdarjung hospital, wherein he was declared dead by the doctor. His luggage has also been found missing.   

According to police, ownership of the taxi number provided by the daughter of the deceased was obtained. The said taxi was found registered in the name of one Virender Singh. The police raided his residence and arrested him from his house. During sustained interrogation, he revealed that he along with his two friends namely Gopal Singh and Dilbagh were available in their taxi at T-3, IGI Airport. The deceased took his taxi from the departure forecourt of T-3 to Mahipal Pur, Delhi. Later, they had an altercation with the deceased person over the fare of the taxi on the way near Mahipalpur red light. Thereafter, all three of them beaten the deceased person and threw him near Centaur Hotel and ran away from there in their taxi. They have also taken the luggage and other valuable items of the deceased with them, so that his identity could not be revealed. 

The accused have been booked for theft and murder under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
