Delhi Police issue warning of fraud emails circulating in name of court orders

These emails claim to be from the Bureau of Police Research & Development and are falsely associate the name of Prashant Gautam, Deputy Commissioner, Shahdara

New Delhi, October 10

The Delhi Police in Shahdara district have issued a warning about fraudulent emails being circulated that threaten individuals with legal action in the name of official court orders.

The officials said that these emails claim to be from the Bureau of Police Research & Development and are falsely associate the name of Prashant Gautam, Deputy Commissioner, Shahdara.

The officials added that in these emails sender allegedly accuse recipients of engaging in child pornography, paedophilia, and other cybercrimes. The emails threaten legal action and prosecution by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Register for Minor Sex Offenders. 

The police are probing the root of these emails that appear to be from overseas.
