Delhi Police seizes fake currency notes worth Rs. 3.98 lakhs, three held

The accused are a part of the a syndicate operating in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi, October 15

The Delhi Police has busted a syndicate operating in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and arrested three accused involved in fake currency notes racket. The police seized FICN worth Rs. 3,98,900 with denomination of Rs. 100, along with printing equipment and other materials.

The mastermind was identified as Mohd. Jubair aka Sonu, 26, from Kotwali Nagar in Faisalabad in UP’s Bulandshahar.

On August 8, police got information regarding one of the key members of the racket coming to Paharganj area of Delhi for supplying a huge consignment of FICN.

The police stated that at around 6:40 AM, two young boys on a brown colour Scooty came from the direction of Gandhi Market and parked 50 meters away from the Gandhi Market roundabout towards Zakir Hussain College. 

The boy seated behind the scooter was holding a gray and sky-blue colored bag. After the informer identified the men as Fazil and Mohsin, police nabbed them while recovering 40 bundles of Rs. 100 Indian currency notes from Mohsin’s bag. The police checked the notes and found it to be counterfeit.

During interrogation, they claimed that they were at the location to supply these fake notes to one Azhar, and had supplied counterfeit notes on multiple occasions. The accused also revealed that they obtained the counterfeit notes from Jubair aka Sonu.
