Delhi Traffic Police organises quiz competition for schools, free health check up camps

New Delhi, February 25
During the Delhi Police Week, Delhi Traffic Police initiated several programmes to enhance road safety awareness among the general public and school children, various programs have been organised by difference traffic circles.
A quiz competition, on road safety was organized in “Sarvodaya Kanya Vidylaya (SKV), Badli, New Delhi” in which more than 70 students of the 7th and 8th standard with and about 15 teaching staff, and 9 traffic staff (2 ZOs, 7 L/Ss) have participated. The quizzes not only tested the students’ knowledge but also encouraged them to think critically about road safety issues that affect their everyday lives. Following the written quiz competition, three participants (securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions) were awarded with Gift hampers, T-Shirts and Caps of Delhi Traffic Police, by the School Principal Ms. Uma.
The Delhi Traffic Police (Northern Range) has also organised a “Free Eyes & Ears Check-up Camp” in association with: 'Pahla Kadam-Ek Ummid' NGO and Dr. Shroff Eye Hospital, Delhi, for free check-ups of the truck drivers and others in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, SP Badli, in which Eyes/Ears, and other health check-ups of more than 200 truck drivers and other others, were conducted by the doctors of Dr. Shroff’s Hospital, Delhi. Followed their check-ups, free spectacles (Chasma) were also distributed to more than 150 persons.
During the Check-up camp, Sandhya Swamy, DCP/T/Northern Range, Sh. Dheeraj Narang, ACP/T/Outer-North, also interacted with the truck drivers, transporters and other general public, who shared their grievances. Besides, both the officers also shared valuable information and tips to the truck drivers and motivated them to follow traffic rules while driving their vehicles on roads. They were also encouraged to drive their vehicles in the prescribed speed limits, avoid accidents and to help the victims of accident on roads without the fear of any legal proceedings.
All the participants in both the above mentioned programmes, participated overwhelmingly and appreciated these initiatives from Delhi Traffic Police. They also assured that they will follow the traffic rules and will also encourage others to do so in their daily life said officials.
