ED attaches properties over Rs. 60 lakhs in irregularities case of Janani Suraksha Yojana fund use

UP Shram Evam Nirman Sehkari Sangh Ltd officials committed irregularities in procurement of equipments

New Delhi, December 9

Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has provisionally attached immovable assets and insurance policies worth Rs. 38.47 Lakh, total amounting to Rs. 68.47 lakhs.

The properties belong to Brahma Prakash Singh, Siddhartha Singh  Govind Sharan Srivastava abd Kumar Kartikey in the matter related to irregularities in procurement of medical equipment’s under Janani Suraksha Yojana (NRHM fund) by officials of UP Shram Evam Nirman Sehkari Sangh Ltd. under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

ED initiated investigation on the basis of FIR registered by CBI, STF, New Delhi under various sections of IPC, 1860 in matter related to irregularities in procurement of medical equipment’s under Janani Suraksha Yojana (NRHM fund) by officials of UP Shram Evam Nirman Sehkari Sangh Ltd.

ED investigation revealed that as per the chargesheet filed by the CBI, Brahm Prakash Singh was the then Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Shram Evam Nirman Sehkari Sangh and as per UP Cooperative Act, 1965 he was responsible for overall control and supervision of the organization.

He was custodian of the amount received by Uttar Pradesh Shram Evam Nirman Sehkari Sangh, Lucknow. The task of accreditation work under Janani Suraksha Yojana was given to Govind Sharan

Srivastava, the then Chief Engineer. Both were found to be involved in procurement related irregularities and received undue benefits from the suppliers.

ED investigation revealed cash deposit in the account of G S Srivastava and his family members and subsequent creation of Life insurance policy. Further, cash deposit was also found in the accounts of B.P Singh and his family members during the offence period which was subsequently used for acquisition of immovable property.
